Course: The Pre-Raphaelites

Dante Gabriel Rossetti: The Girlhood of Mary Virgin (1849). The Tate Gallery, London.

The course is intended for anyone with an interest in art, art history, or Victorian history and culture in general, as well as for those with a particular interest in the Pre-Raphaelite movement. No prior experience or knowledge is required Among the topics the course will cover are:

Graphic: round bullet pointThe development of Pre-Raphaelite art

Graphic: round bullet pointThe Pre-Raphaelite legacy

If you take this course, you will need to be prepared to read, to look, to discuss, and to listen. You will be expected to collaborate with your fellow students, putting together ideas and insights and communicating them to others, and to prepare written assignments and a presentation which you will give before the class.

The course will be held at Fishergate Primary School, Fishergate, York, on ten Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9pm, beginning 25 April 2006.
